It’s that time of year again! Tomorrow marks the beginning of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. For a little recap of last year, the Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the San Jose Sharks four games to two for the 2016 Stanley Cup. The first round of playoffs begins tomorrow, with a best-of-seven series, followed by three more rounds of best-of-seven series until the final round, the Stanley Cup Final.
Us Chicago fans have high hopes for the Blackhawks to take it home again for the 4th time in 7 years. With their amazing record this past season, it’s very likely this amazing team will reign supreme once again.
This season alone, the Chicago Blackhawks hold the best record in the Western Conference, which consists of 14 teams and only 8 of those make the playoffs. Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews and Duncan Keith were named NHL’s 100 greatest players this year, among only 6 who are active in the league today. Both Keith and Kane are having great seasons. Kane is likely to finish second in points scored, and Keith is predicted to win the award for the league’s best defenseman.
Starting Thursday, April 13 at 8pm, the Hawks will be kicking off round one of the playoffs against the Nashville predators at the United Center. Find the rest of the round one schedule here.
