One of our favorite Cubbies is all about making history these days. Recently retired Chicago Cubs catcher, David Ross (also known as Grandpa Rossy), who helped the Cubs bring home the 2016 World Series championship is now making history as Dancing with the Stars’ first contestant from the MLB!
After giving us a preview of his dance moves and amazing vocals on Saturday Night Live with teammates, Anthony Rizzo and Dexter Fowler and famous celebrity, Bill Murray, we’re sure he has some moves up his sleeves. See the video below. Being a catcher requires you to be quick on your feet. Ross was one of the best catchers in the MLB last season, and us Cubs fans are confident that he will go far in the competition, especially with those moves!
Even his former teammates, Anthony Rizzo, Kris Bryant and Addison Russell were confident in him in an interview they had, shown below. Anthony Rizzo gave Ross great advice to start the season with, “Try not to suck,” which was the Cubs’ 2016 mantra.
Season 24 of Dancing with the Stars premieres on Monday, March 20 at 8pm. Ross will be paired with Lindsay Arnold, who has been paired with athletes in previous seasons. We can be sure that all Chicago Cubs fans will continue to support one of our favorite Cubbies and root root root for Grandpa Rossy! Below is the full cast for season 24.
Since retiring from the Chicago Cubs, David Ross has been all over the spectrum. He’s been doing Kellogg’s Raisin Bran Crunch commercials, playing basketball with the Harlem Globetrotters and will be joining ESPN as a baseball analyst.
